Sometimes you see an image and you have to find out who the photographer is. That happened to me with Wendelien Daan and I found her website of photography. She has worked with different magazines including Surface, a favorite of mine. These aren’t some of her recent works but they’re still great.

I love a top hat (don’t know why, it always makes me smile)

Another thing I love are tutus. A modern day Swan Lake with ruby slippers.

I’m always looking for new visuals and came across Sesame, an online magazine from Australia. It started in 2004 as a print publication stocked in independent stores and galleries throughout Australia. Not sure if it is still available in print. Nevertheless, I will definitely be keeping my eye out for their next issue online.

In reality, a typical fashion show is about 15 minutes long. What you rarely get to see is all the behind the scenes antics and preparation that goes into producing a fashion show. The months leading up to the actual show are long with a lot of work involved. Here are some backstage shots from Rodarte’s Fall 2007 show.

During the recent couture shows, there were so many designs that were works of art but seemed completely unwearable in real life. Gary Graham’s collection translates well in reality.

I love the layering look and the how the scarf becomes more than something to wrap around your neck

The common theme throughout Sarah van Marcke’s photography is that you feel a sense of isolation in relation to space. She is really great at uniting the location and the subject which results in some pretty spectacular, thought-provoking shots.

Wow. Thuy Diep’s new collection is filled with so much texture and depth. Looking through the Fall collection, I literally kept shaking my head at the way the garments were draped and wishing I could touch them and fill my closet with these clothes. I love the detail of this skirt.

One of my favorite things to do is go to an Anthropologie store and look at the visual displays. There is so much inspiration in the way they decorate their interiors and the store windows. I saw this installation on one of my many visits to Anthropologie, but didn’t have my camera on me. Deborah Bowness has a line of trompe l’oeil wallpapers with images of dresses. Deborah Bowness
It’s so quirky and fun.

I ♥ mail. I love sending it and I definitely love receiving it. Lately, everywhere I looked I saw all these great swaps in the blogosphere and I always missed the due date. Finally, I happened to catch one before its deadline. Montmartre had the awesome idea to do a paper swap with a twist: take and send photos of things in your daily life that inspire you.

My swap partner, Estella sent me the best collection of paper, ephemera and magazine clippings. All things that I adore and so much stuff to use in collages and journaling. Thanks so much Estella!

Here is a picture of what I sent her way.

lots of vintage postcards, a journal and a map.

I love the idea of capturing those special things in your life that inspire you and its so much fun to see what inspires others. All in all I think my first swap was a success!

Vogue Nippon always has amazing editorials, look at this romantic visual set. These photos remind me of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Titania, Puck and Oberon.

Here is Titania, Queen of Faeries

Loosely translated to english, La Petite Salope means the little strumpet. Looking at their collection of dresses, it calls to mind the complete opposite. These clothes are sophisticated with a tough, modern aesthetic.

T Michael
T Michael has an edgy, stylish approach to menswear. Based in Norway, his designs have a sartorial sensibility and nothing beats a man in a sharp suit! I love the styling of this collection; these pictures were shot in the Mojave Desert on a polaroid camera.

This is where the history geek in me squeals unabashedly about this sequel to Elizabeth. Not only have I seen the original movie numerous times, I’ve read several biographies and historical fiction about Elizabeth I. From the looks of the trailer, cinematically it looks great and the costumes are over-the-top, gorgeous, and Clive Owen is in it. (very nice)
