Last week, Bryant Park was a green oasis filled with people milling about. This week, the construction began on those white tents that will enclose the Spring 2008 fashions. Next week, the fashion shows commence and lots of insiders and onlookers will be in attendance.

These signs were all over the gates around the park.

This is a shot from the entrance side. Usually, the fountain gushes out water and looks so big. Surrounded by the tents it seems dwarf-like.

These series of tents start from the entrance of the park and covers the whole lawn.

Sorry, that I couldn’t get a better shot of the entrance.

These images by Sebastien Maziere are absolutely beautiful. As the end of summer draws near, these pictures for some reason, make me want to frolic about in a party dress and enjoy the simpler times. Try to find those wonderful moments in whatever form you choose between all the hectic commotion that often fills our everyday life.

Stop. Breathe. Have a Happy Friday!

P.S. will try to have some images of Bryant Park up later today.

Fugahum’s collection is named Doppelganger (which is a word I have always liked; try saying that 5x fast) and they have extended the theme of the double into the styling and photography of the clothing.

Check out the shadows of the models.

It sort of reminds me of the Bram Stoker’s Dracula movie with Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves and Gary Oldham where Dracula’s shadow is always doing some sort of menacing movement. Yes, it’s eerie but it completely ties into the theme of this collection.

Another item that I really like are capes and this royal blue is perfect for those chilly days that make up the Fall and the beginning of Spring.

I have a cape that is a thrift find but it is brown and not as nice as this one. Will keep my eyes open for something similar.

For the launch of Prada’s fragance, Miuccia wanted to portray the different facets of being a woman. So the directors decided to use Thunder Perfect Mind, a poem found among the gnostic manuscripts which references the paradoxical nature of the feminine psyche. Here is Daria Werbowy in the Prada campaign.

Yesterday afternoon, as I passed by Bryant Park, I saw those white tents going up and the green lawn covered by the beginning construction for Fashion Week.

Is it wrong that I get excited whenever I see these tents? Or maybe it is wrong to get excited about construction of the tents? Anyway, I was mad at myself for not having my camera on me. Oh well, will try again later this week.

Oh what glorious shapes! Drottiningen av Saba’s collection is so sculptural but still completely wearable.

Look at the side view on this dress.  Love!!

Yuki Arita describes her fashion label, Furnishing as more than just clothing: it is a way of life and philosophy.  What I like about the styling is the simplicity of each piece and how well it all works together with brightly hued accessories. Love the pop of color and all the shoes in each outfit.

I love finding photographers and looking through their portfolio whether it is for fashion, photojournalism, etc. I love it all, professional, amateur. As usual, I came across Peter Gehrke and really enjoyed looking through his images. Here are a few favorites:

Lately, I’ve been drawn to editorials that look like they are from another century. Thomas Klementsson is a great photographer and I love these images.

In less than two weeks, NY Fashion Week will be underway with all of the Spring 2008 collections but Fall hasn’t officially started yet. So, in anticipation of crisp days and layered dressing here are a few pieces from Vena Cava’s F/W 2007 collection.

What I like about Swedish design label Saby’s Fall 07 collection is the attention to detail. The tailoring and draping of the coats and outerwear are very feminine and the presentation of the collection with the artistic, moody photography is great.

The back of this jacket is Victorian-esqe but is completely modern with the deep neck in the front.

The detail on the collar is fantastic and I like the pleating on the back.

I love the soft neutral and gray palette that has infiltrated Eple & Melk’s  F/W 07 collection. Usually, when people think monochromatic they tend to gravitate to all-black which can quickly become boring, so it’s nice to see different ways to achieve the same look.
