Vintage Alice

Ever since I was a child I have always been fascinated with Alice in Wonderland. Whether it was giant coloring books that I could spend hours filling in or different books and illustrations, I’m continually attracted to the ideas and the imagery. Then there was that wonderful editorial in Vogue several years back that astounded me.

One of the best editorials ever in my opinion.
But I think that I found something even more precious. A vintage reel of Alice in Wonderland from 1903. Apparently, it is the first filmed version of Lewis Carroll’s timeless classic. It’s frozen in a sepia-toned, silent celluoid history.

ever since i read the book in elementary school, i’ve had what you might call a wonderland complex. now, as an adult, i don’t go around dressing like alice (fortunately…?), but i can’t help but be entranced by stuff like this. i’ve never seen the full editorial (only bits and pieces), so i really appreciated it! thanks.
