In the past few weeks, I’ve seen this print ad all over the subways here in NYC and I always chuckled because it seems so crazy. To be honest, I didn’t know what to make of this except that I thought it was a funny spoof and I figured it had to be an ad but for what??? Kanye is pretty infamous for his ego and loud self-boasting so I find these ads to be hilarious and tongue-in-cheek.

At first I didn’t realize that it was actually an ad for Absolut vodka. Remember back in the days when they used to do cool advertisements in the shape of their bottle? This prominent product placement had been replaced on this new advertisement with the subtle tagline: “In an Absolut world”

Now, they’ve moved beyond that and this is their new campaign. I think its brilliant in the sense that I love a good spoof.

I’m not sure what this quote has to do with tire swings but in a way it all makes sense to me.

If we are going to talk about style influences and following your own innate sense of what looks good then we have to talk about The Dresden Dolls and specifically singer Amanda Palmer. I have to be honest I don’t know much about their songs except for a few but I am however a huge fan of their style aesthetic, their own version of punk cabaret. I love theatrics and Amanda and Brian do not dissapoint.

Okay, I have a thing for graffiti and art used in urban settings and I am so in love with Blu an Italian street artist living in Argentina. What I find fascinating about his work is that he has produced stop-animation films based on his creatures that he draws on the walls of Argentina. But it’s more than just filming one piece of art, each sequence has to be captured as soon as he draws it and then erased for the next part of the sequence. It’s time consuming but so totally worth it to produce this mini masterpiece.
