When I was ten, I wanted to be a writer and would create little stories or plays and make everyone in my family act them out. I self-published my stories and directed mini-movies.

I thought that was pretty bad-ass but Solveig of Brighton is a 10 year-old graffiti artist who’s even tattooed someone. She paints at legal wasteland sites throughout Brighton.

Oh, and she’s part of a graffiti crew titled AGC, which stands for All- Girl Crew.

She’s totally got me beat. Keep it up, shorty!

untitled 11:11 on stylealchemy

During New York Fashion Week, I went to the Untitled 11:11 fashion show and I was blown away by the clothes and the presentation. I saw their debut collection last year at Williamsburg Fashion Weekend which literally left me speechless, so I was really anticipating something equally amazing.

I’m a creature of habit.

My mind functions the best in the morning, I’m the most creative, filled with the most energy. I feel like the day is mine to conquer.

The night has always been a time for reflection and tumbling headfirst into sweet dreams.

Lately, my mind has been racing with energy at the oddest times in the night and instead of lying in bed wishing for sleep, I figure that I would share some of my nocturnal ruminations either in the form of images or words.

Have you ever found yourself in this situation?

You’re going on living your life, things seem perfect.

You feel as if you’re on top of the world but there’s this nagging thought that won’t leave you alone.

At the back of your mind you just keep waiting for the shit to hit the fan??

I call it the waiting for the other shoe to drop syndrome and it can affect every aspect of your life. Sometimes, you don’t even need a real reason for this feeling but somehow it haunts you at different times.

Mostly, I’ve felt this is way in relationships with guys but I know other people who have felt that way in their friendships, relationships with their parents, work situations.

It’s almost as if you can’t believe that things will be continue to be great for the long run and as a result you’re constantly on the look-out for when things start to go sour.

This is a terrible way to view life.  Since I’m such a strong believer in the idea that your thoughts create your reality; I’ve had to do a lot of soul-searching and reprogramming the way I view things so that I’m not caught in a pessimistic web of thoughts.

Of course, life isn’t always going to be sugary sweet and perfect but it doesn’t mean that we have to expect the worst.

The most important thing to remember is to be grateful and thankful for what you have and to enjoy all the moments that are strung together to make up your life.

Worrying about something will never change the outcome, all you’ve succeeded in doing is wasting precious time wrapped up in the thought of something bad happening. Instead use that energy for doing something positive.

What do you guys think?

Today’s style muse is straight from Cameron Crowe’s 1992 movie Singles.

Janet played by Bridget Fonda is a waitress in love with her loser boyfriend Cliff, played by Matt Dillon and she easily has the best style in the movie.

We’re talking quintessential early 90′s grunge with plenty of plaid, flannels shirts, flirty skirts, leather jackets and floral dresses.

This scene from Wedding Crashers always makes me laugh uncontrollably.

Like so hard that I’m trying to catch my breath. So many good quotes!

Vince Vaughn is hilarious as usual, throw in some Christopher Walken with Keir O’Donnell playing Todd and let the antics ensue.

Enjoy!

Okay, it’s official I love Lykke Li.

Yes, her infectious Swedish pop songs infiltrated my headspace last year and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

But when a tiny, blond girl covers Rick Ross’ Hustlin, she just officially became the shiznit.

It’s not the best performance but she knows enough of the words and this is probably better than what a lot of people’s drunk karaoke looks like.

Also, the look on the audience faces at one point is priceless.

Hey lovelies,

Things have been a little slow this week mostly due to the fact that I was shacked up on my sofa coughing my lungs out of my body.

Yea, it sounds as bad as it felt.

On the way to feeling better, so here’s a little inspiration.

There are 3 Bobs that I love in this world.

Bob Marley, Bob Dylan and the Bill Murray movie, What about Bob?

Today is Bob Marley’s birthday. He would have been 64.

This image from the lovely Garance Dore. This is how I want to dress everyday.  The pop of yellow in that heel is so genius!

I am officially obsessed with the British series, Skins! I know, I know, I’m a little late to the party but the point is that I showed up. I admit that I have a guilty pleasure when I watch Gossip Girl but Skins is on a whole ‘nother level.

skins

I started watching it 2 weeks ago and finally used the excuse of feeling under the weather to lay back and finish off the first two seasons.

luv. it. lots.

This saying:

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF PEOPLE: THOSE WHO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN, THOSE WHO WATCH THINGS HAPPEN AND THOSE WHO SAY “WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?”

Regardless of what is going on in your life, try to remember:

We always have the ability to change the way we think and perceive the world which can affect our surroundings!

Finally, this video which brings a smile to my face every time I watch it.
