If you’re an avid style blog reader, there’s a very good chance that you’ve seen the brightly hued, Disney Princess inspired style of Kailey of the popular Mermaidens blog. We got a chance to find out the inspiration behind her unique sense of style. StyleAlchemy: Kailey, thanks so much for agreeing to do this interview. You’ve become quite known for your bubblegum, brightly colored outfits which you showcase regularly on Mermaidens. First and foremost, can you tell us about your trademark cotton candy colored hair and your blog name: Mermaidens? Kailey: I had faded black hair for a while when I decided /I needed/ pink hair! This week’s style muse is the lovely Bianca from the wonderfully named Avant Blargh blog. Self-described as living in a world “between gamine and grandma”, Bianca has a way of taking classics and making them look fresh. Armed with a strong sense of fashion and all that amazing hair, Bianca sashays around Chicago to the beat of her own style drum. As you can see, Bianca takes the idea of “basics” to a whole ‘nother level. Who knew loafers, slacks and button-down shirts could be so inspiring? Seriously, this outfit right here might be one of my favorites. The subtle pattern mixing, the blue hues and the perfect accent of red is so damn great, I just want to give a round of applause to Bianca and what she is doing...

Well, it happened again. I don’t know what to tell you but this week’s style muse is inspired by another Brooklyn boy, Lougè Delcy of Dapper Lou. His blog is filled with images of his amazing personal style, editorials and street style photos that he takes of other fashionable men. Do you see how amazingly well put together Delcy is? Do you get how dope that is? Do you? Good, now peep the pops of color with the suspenders and the patterned socks. Plus, homeboy can wear the hell out of a hat. Bravo, Lou. You are dapper indeed. I’m really loving the way men are mixing up the rules and finding their own fashion voice. Lougè’s style is not just traditional or strictly modern but an interesting combination of both....

I don’t know what it is but I’m a little obsessed and impressed with the current state of menswear. Or maybe, I’m feeling a little fatigued by the over saturation of womenswear images. Whatever the reason, this is the third style muse post in as many weeks to be influenced by the male sex. This guy right here, the one casually lounging in a coffee shop, aka Mr. Danger aka Super Danger aka Alexander Maier is kind of killing it with his style. His tumblr is the type that you like to peruse not just for the style shots but he’s also pretty funny. Like full-on, all up in your face, witty. Stop the presses. Wait, a well-dressed man who can make you laugh? Calm down ladies, it does exist....
