Welcome back to Theme Show Tuesday. Why don’t you sit back and get comfortable while we talk about this week’s song? Pretty Little Liars is an ABC Family show about…well, pretty little liars. Talk about succinct and to the point. Here’s the backstory: This melodrama follows the lives of 4 teens whose lives start to unravel when their Regina George, I mean, Alison something or other disappears. A whole year later, they each start receiving mysterious texts about their secrets from someone named A. Hmmmm? Logically, they think it’s Alison until her body is discovered. Whoops!….there goes that theory. Basically, they spend their time trying to figure out who else knows all their dirt. Aaaand, making sure that the rest of the world doesn’t find out their shady business either. Blah, blah,...

Ok guys, it’s the second day of the work week which means THEME SHOW TUESDAY. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to yell at you. It’s just that I’m overly excited about this new series. I don’t think you really understand how much I love theme songs or music in general. Not trying to brag (who? me?) but I have this uncanny ability to remember and identify beats. I’ve been known to interrupt a conversation (politely, of course!) because I hear a song playing in the background and I have to ask my friends if they can hear that downbeat and doesn’t it remind them of like x, y or z? Don’t even get me started on how I can place most samples (even the obscure ones) in hip-hop songs, and...


Unlike some of my friends who happen to scorn the notion of television, I tend to really enjoy watching it. In small doses – of course. But I’ve seen enough television shows to know that there are hundreds of amazing theme songs out there. Some are incredible, others are the best in the campiest way possible and some are just plain terrible. Theme Show Tuesday is a new series on stylealchemy which will discuss the best and worst in television opening sequences.
